This site is about Tammy (Tamara) and Mark James. The site was set up to help friends and family keep up information about Saipan and other places we have been. With the advent of Facebook I have decided to shift the focus of the site to displaying some of our better photos on the main pages. This means there will be much less content added but I'm hoping it will be of better quality.
We met in Spokane Washington and got married 2 years later on May 26th 2004 in Cozumel Mexico on the beach at sunset. In April of 2005we moved to the island of Saipan, CNMI. Saipan is a small island that is between the Pacific ocean and the Philippine sea. Here is a site with maps of where Saipan is. This site has some nice pictures and info The CNMI Guide
Why Underexposed and why Saipan? I have been a avid scuba diver for years and when Tammy and I met she joined me in my enthusiasm of being exposed to the wonders of what lays under the waves. This is why we call our site UNDEREXPOSED. We chose to move to Saipan because of the climate and the fact that it is in Micronesia which has some of the best scuba diving in the world.
Please take some time to look around and we hope you enjoy it.

We started off the holiday
weekend diving with a
group from Guam and
Ben who was visiting
from Korea.
We hit Laulau and then
the Grotto. Vis was down
but everyone had fun.

The 4th started with Ben
and I heading out to
Wing beach. We brought
a rope to make sure we
could get back out and
had a nice dive.

company van today to
start the holiday weekend.
It was over due and the
Chevy was long in the
tooth.

I was at the old Nikko hotel
around lunch time so did a
little walk about with the
camera.

Took D'Argo to Paupau
beach today for his first salt
water diving. He had a lot
of fun. I took a couple of
other shots around the
house and a picture of a Sea
Cucumber from our dive
on Thursday night.

I went out in the yard this morning to
pick some edibles and decided to lay out
the mornings bounty and take a picture.
I found 9 different types ripe and ready,
from Tomato's to Chocolate.
After taking a picture of the food I
decided to add some of the flowers that
we have growing in the yard.

Went to the Grotto today for
a swim. I took my coral
watch card to take some
different spots and will take
more at the same places. We
went to a class and Tammy
is doing it as well.

We took D'Argo to the park and he
had some fun with a group of boys.
As we meandered the path I was
enjoying the lighting and tried to
get a couple of cool ones. I really
wanted to go up to the couple with
the bikes and get a better shot but
just took a couple of quick ones
instead.

We went to Banzai for the
first dives off of Scott and
Atsuko's "new to them"
boat. The boat rides nice and
it was a great dive. Can't wait
to go back.

We had lunch today at Tori
Hide. It's been a while since
we've been there and it was
as good as always.

These two shots were taken
about 5 minutes apart and
you can see how fast the
colors changed.

The other morning as I was getting ready for work
I noticed that the sunrise had a little extra oomph
to it. I decided to grab the camera and put my long
lens on to see what I could get. For those of you
that photograph sunsets or sunrises you know how
only a second or two can change everything, so I
had to move fast. After putting my 45-200mm
lens on my Panasonic GH2 I stepped out on the
patio to fire off a few rounds. Lucky for me we
have no neighbors as I was not quit finished getting
dressed but hey, you know how it is when you see
something worth shooting and time is critical.
I've taken many shots from this spot so coming up
with something fresh can be a challenge. I tried a
couple with a palm tree in the shot and a couple
more with the arches that are over our pool as well.
Just about that time I heard a helicopter off in the
distance. This is a small island with one helicopter
that is used to give tourist sight seeing tours. They
were out for a sunrise flight and were definitely
getting their moneys worth this morning.
All I could do was wait and hope that it came into frame while the sun was still in a good spot. A few seconds later it blessed me with a
flight path that was almost perfect and I managed to get a couple of shots with it. I liked this one best. I did have to crop the edge to
remove part of a column and I also switched from 4/3 to 3/2 in order to take advantage of as much of the color as possible.
My camera settings were f/9, 1/1600, ISO 160 and 200mm which is 400mm equivalent. I raised the exp. just a touch in LR because I
felt the water was too dark but that was it. That took a little contrast away from the sky but I was happy with the trade off as it didn't
affect the colors which was my main consern.
I took this shot on the last full
moon. It was a 8 second
exposure but I only turned the
pool lights on for a second or two
so it wouldn't overexpose.
This Barracuda was less then a meter from me
but with the wide angle lens it looks farther.
The view from the guest room. I love the early
morning shadows cast by the sun and railing.
