September 1, 2005..................Hello all, Mark and I survived our first Typhoon!
Yes, typhoon Nabi blew through yesterday morning and lasted throughout much of the day. It started with the wind and rain Tuesday evening, and I
thought that was all it was. Well, by Wednesday morning, I knew something else was up. I got up and got ready for work, and it was just raining like
crazy. Mark turned on the weather station and it showed that we had a severe storm coming our way. I called my boss and she said that we were off
for the day, that there was a typhoon coming. By Noon it was blowing like crazy. The wind was howling and we had no power so, we headed over to
our good friends Judy and Dennis' house. They have a generator, so we took over some movies and had a great time watching the storm blow
through. We stayed at their place until about 5:00, when we decided that we should head home before dark in case there was any damage. When
we got home, we walked into the house and all seemed well until Mark walked into the kitchen and was in a puddle of water! It rained with such
force, that it came in under the back door, and flooded the kitchen! Good thing the house has concrete walls and tile floors throughout! Nothing else
was wrong except there was lots of leaves and branches in the pool!
One thing we did do while we were at Dennis and Judy's, is go out for a drive, to watch the surf at a golf course called the Kingfisher, we did not
make it that far, as there was a tree blocking the road so, we turned around and headed back to their house but, stopped by a beach on the way and
Mark found a little baby Tern laying on he ground, so he picked it up, and we took it back to our friends house to warm it up and dry it off. He survived
the night in Judy and Dennis'  bathroom in a hamper, and this morning, Judy and I took it back out to Pau Pau and released him. Hopefully he is
alright and out fishing for dinner! He was a cute little bird!
This afternoon our power came back on, and Mark went out and cleaned up the yard a little, swept up leaves and trash, and hauled a broken door
out to the dumpster. It was in a billion pieces!
We decided that we should have a generator for the next storm, so we went out and got one at Costco. Now we are ready for the next big one!
We are still enjoying our new home, although I am not as used to the warm weather as I was hoping I would be! Thank God for A/C!
I am struggling at my new job, there is so much to learn! I am not as young as I use to be, my brain is full of stuff, so I am having a hard time
retaining things lately Time to start taking Ginko Biloba I guess!
Well, I will close for now, hope that all our friends and family are doing well.
Keep on writing and e-mailing us! Miss you all............Tammy and Mark

These are some pictures from
Madisa's Birthday party at Pau
Pau beach.

It was a perfect day to play in the
                           Water.

The beach was on the quiet
side for a Saturday.

                                Waiting for cake...

Dude loves to swim at the beach.

Another perfect day in paradise.
The Island
Our first look at Saipan as
we flew in from Guam on
April 15th 2005.
Gorgeous isn't it?
This is Pau Pau beach. It
was the first place on the
island that we got in the
water. We did our first
snorkel here.
This is looking down from
our hill. Below is a golf
course, Movie theatre
and Price Costco.
This is a US tank that  is
in the shallow water by
Red Beach. Red Beach
was the spot of the
largest tank battle in the
Pacific theatre during
WWII. The water was kind
of choppy and my goal is
to get a better picture of it
at some point.
These are some of the
guns at the last
command post of the
Japanese on Saipan.
There are a few big guns
and a tank.
This is Banzai cliff. It is
one of two places the
Japanese jumped along
with Suicide cliff to avoid
capture by the Allied
forces.
This is a sunset from the
taco joint we go to.
This is a hen and some
of her new chicks in the
driveway looking for a
snack.
Tammy sitting on another
tank we went snorkeling
to.
This isn't the best picture
but I like how you can see
her shadow below and
reflection above.
A ray we saw when
snorkeling to the tank.
This is a new robo lawn
mower.
Looking into the top hatch
of the tank. It's to small for
me to get in.
It's still in good condition
for 60+ years in salt
water.
