Our trip to Saipan will be a little longer then usual. We will be leaving
Spokane on Sunday March 13th and will stop in Oakland for 2 weeks. I'll
be learning how to service a color printer. We will spend some time with
Tammy's sister "Tawh" and nephew "D" . We should get out and see
some of the sites.
From Oakland we will be traveling to Guam for 3 more weeks of training.
This is the long part of the trip as far as travel goes. We will leave
Oakland and fly to Seattle. From there we go to Tokyo, then to Saipan.
We wish we could stay in Saipan but after a short layover we are off to
Guam.
The 3 weeks in Guam should be fun. It will give us a chance to get
familiar with island life. Guam is the place people on Saipan go to shop
for things they can't find at home so it will give us a chance to see what
is available.
Tammy will be on an extended vacation and will most likely spend a lot
of time at the pool and beach while I'm in class. I'll be ready to join her
after class each day. With any luck we will be able to go diving on the 2
weekends we are there. I am looking forward to doing some swimming.
We will finely get to Saipan on April 15th after 5 weeks on the road and
then the real journey begins.....

Our last view of Mt. Rainier.

Tammy's daily/whenever updates
Hi!
Well, Here we are in sunny Oakland, California!
We are staying at the Courtyard, Marriott in Downtown Oakland!
The trip started out in Spokane, we left our beautiful home on Saturday
afternoon, with Mark's sister LeeAnn and Nephew, Joe.
They were wonderful to let Mark use their car for a couple of weeks
after he sold his.
First stop was Dr. Pfarr's to drop off his Geo Tracker that I had been
using for a month or so! Thanks to him, I had transportation to go to the
post office, get to work, and get things buttoned up for our long trip!
We stayed in a hotel at the Airport Saturday evening, and caught a flight out Sunday around 11:50 am.
The flight went to Seattle, then on to Sunny Oakland, Ca!
We checked in to our room at the Courtyard, Dropped our bags, and headed out for some exploring!
Mark thought it would be fun to ride the B.A.R.T. (Bay Area Rapid Transit) In to San Francisco.
It was cool, I have never ridden a Subway Train before!
We got in to S.F. and walked for a few miles, enjoying the sights, and taking pictures.
He led me to believe that after we walked up this one hill, we would be at Fisherman's Wharf..........Oh
my Gosh!!!! We walked for miles it seemed like.....ALL UPHILL!
Finally we saw the Wharf, and we walked around l taking in all the sights and sounds of our home for
the next 2 weeks!
We saw Ghiradelli Square, Hooters, In-n-Out burger, and LOTS of strange people! After we ate our
Burger, we walked to the Trolley station to catch a cable car to get us back to the B.A.R.T......................I was done walking for the evening, or so I
thought...................
We made it back to our hotel room, and off we went again to find a grocery store to buy Milk and cereal.......you know, one of our Staples!!!
We ended up finding London Square, walked around for a bit, and went in to this BBQ Joint called, "EVERETT & JONES".............It was very good, we
have done a lot of eating the last couple of weeks!!
Today is Monday and Mark is off to class for training.
I walked to the market and got a few needed things, came back to the hotel and hit the
gym for awhile. I was on the treadmill and had my room "key" on the top of the treadmill,
well, it fell off and got sucked in the treadmill!! I just left the security guard out of the room....
he had to come in and check my I.D. because I didn't have it in the gym with me!!
Needless to say, it has been fun so far, we will keep this updated as we can!
We LOVE AND MISS you ALL!
Always, Tammy and Mark :)
Wednesday, March 16th
Hi again everyone.
Oakland is nice, the weather has been very pleasant. We have been wearing just light jackets to wander around the city.
We met Theresa and Dominick on Monday evening for dinner. We walked to London Square, had a nice meal, and walked back to our hotel.
I will see Theresa again tomorrow, she's going to come get me, take me to San Jose to do some girly stuff, and I will stay overnight with her until Friday
afternoon.
Mark's classes are going well, he has a very nice trainer and goes to class from 8am until 5pm.
We meet for lunch daily near his office building, it has been fun.
I am enjoying working out in the hotel gym, and just wandering the streets :) checking out all the cool Asian markets, they sure have a lot of fruits, and
things I have never seen before!
They are all very friendly, and eager to have you buy!
Hope all is well with our friends and family!
Will write more soon,
Tam
Saturday, March 19th
We are having a pretty good time here!
Theresa came and picked me up on Thursday, and we went to her school to meet her fellow co-workers; Marge, Thu-Ha, Sylvia and Ella.
They are all very nice, with great sense of humors (they have to, to work with Teri...Right?) We all went to "President's" for Mongolian food, it was soooo
yummy, just like "Moon's" back in Spokane! Theresa and I shopped awhile, and met Dominick for Dinner at the "Chicken Coop", Great food of course! I
swear, I will be the size of a "Barge" by the time we get settled in Saipan! All I do is eat, eat, eat! I spent the night in San Jose with Theresa and D, Got the
tour of their cute house, got to see Dominick's bike collection, and check out the ones that he builds, they are so cool! He is very talented, I am proud of
him.
Theresa is going to classes, working full time and always, always busy! I am so proud of her too, for going after what she wants. She has lots of nice
friends here, they all have a crazy sense of humor like she does! Friday, Theresa and I shopped some more, went to Oakridge Mall, it was a big place,
nothing like that in Spokane! After shopping, Theresa brought me "home" to the hotel to relax. (pass out is more like it!)
Today Mark and I took the B.A.R.T. , to Union City, a shopping center, and went to see the movie "Robots", it was alright, I thought it would be better but,
oh well! We ate at T.G.I. Friday's, it was of course.....Delicious! After walking around the mall a little more, we hopped the train back to Oakland.
Needless to say, we have done a lot of sight seeing, and eating, some relaxing and, lots of people watching.
It has been fun, and we only have 1 more week here, before we set off for Guam, and our next adventure!
Stay tuned for the next episode of "Mark and Tammy's Great Adventure" !!
Hope all of our Friends and Family are well, our Sympathy goes out to My Brother Mike.
He lost his faithful companion of 15 years, "Chips" the cat. So sorry Mike.
Love to everyone :) Tam and Mark
Sunday, March 20th
Well Hello everyone!
Today Mark and I took the train to San Francisco again. We went to the Aquarium at Pier 39, it was amazing, lots of sharks, and fish and crabs, tons of
huge Stingrays too, they were just beautiful. They had an area where we could touch them, even the sharks let us touch them (they were small, but they
were Sharks!!) It was just so cool!!! Apparently while we were in the Aquarium, there was a big storm! But we missed it all!
There were even reports of a tornado touchdown here! We went to Ghiradelli Square again, had some Chocolate samples, went to lunch at the Grotto on
the Wharf, it was yummy. I had their famous chowder, Mark had a huge seafood salad, I got to sample it, it was delicious.
Like I said, we have done a lot of eating, and we aren't done yet!!
We should be meeting Theresa again on Thursday for dinner in Fremont, it will be nice to see her again. I was hoping to get to meet Jaclyn, D's girlfriend,
but, I think she will have to work so, maybe next time!
The weather has been kind of cool and rainy, but that is alright, soon, we will be on our way to Sunny Guam! Mark has booked us some spots on a dive
boat while we are there! I can't wait to get in the water and do some diving!
Well, toodles for now, we will keep you posted on our travels :) Love to all, Tam and Mark
Thursday, March 24th
Well, here we are almost at the last of our Oakland stay, and off to a new and exciting adventure! Today it is fairly nice out after having a lot of rain and
wind. I walked down to the city center and had lunch with Mark, and a walk around downtown Oakland. We will meet Theresa this evening in Fremont, it is
about a 1/2 hour South on the BART. We will have dinner with her, and hopefully Dominick and Jaclyn will be able to join us, I know they are busy kids!
After being here for a week and a 1/2, I must say that it has been very interesting, what with all the different cultures that are here. The people for the
most part are friendly, and helpful, some of them are a little crazy but, I guess you find crazy people everywhere you go! The weather was fair, I guess I
can say better than Spokane, not cold and snowy but, not as nice as I was expecting. I was hoping for a little more sun........Oh well, I am sure we will be
getting plenty of sun in the next couple of days!..........At least I hope !
We leave early Saturday morning for Seattle, change planes and fly to Tokyo, 11+ hours in the air......from Tokyo, it is off to Saipan for a layover and then
off to Guam for 3 weeks! I am so jazzed about it, I can't wait!
We hope all is well with Family and our friends, we are thinking of you daily:) Keep on smiling, and we will be talking to you again soon.
Love to you all, Tam and Mark
