Marianas Dive and Beautify CNMI clean up Lau Lau
Bay for International beach clean-up day.
Along with 2 bags of trash, Tammy found a
slightly used Golf club in the jungle!
Below are some of the Marianas Dive group
getting ready to help beautify CNMI!
Tammy, Brad, Mike, Mike Tripp and Rusty.
Among some of the things
Rusty found were a flashlight, a
snorkel and lots of batteries!
Tammy's bag is almost full.
Dennis diving with a full
bag of stuff from the
shallows
Judy has a full bag too!
Steven is one of the guys from the
Preposition ships that helped us out!
Dennis found what seems to be the sole of a dive bootie
How can someone loose their
pants in the water?
It wasn't all work
and no play, there
is always the big
fish ball with the
Trevally.
One of our favorite
things to see at
Lau Lau
This is one
big Nudi at
Lau Lau!

Hexabranchus
sanguineus

Or commonly
called a
Spanish Dancer
Judy finds a teeny Nudibranch
This Nudibranch is
huge and was busy
eating while Mark
snapped it's picture
a few times!
Probably the biggest
one we both have
seen.
Money Cowrie out and about
Hexabranchus sanguineus again.....At least I hope that is
the correct name!
The big Nudi again...Mark
liked this one.
Below another photo of the group that helped us all out:

Dive at Lau Lau.

after our Beach clean up and BBQ.
Doing some much deserved relaxing
by the pool.
Although this has nothing to do
with diving, it is cute.....Rucky
and Piper will get into any box
they can.

Oh, and Crystal, if you are
reading this, Thanks for getting
me hooked on the Chocolate
Silk Soy Milk!

our place after the clean up.
This dapper fella is Dennis Chapla, our
wonderful friend and dive buddy!.......he
sure cleans up well!
Today is Sunday, September 16th,   and our group of divers Marianas Dive, Led by President Mike Tripp, participated in a beach
clean up.
It was a joint effort with Beautify CNMI, and today we made a little bit of a difference in the look of Lau Lau beach, and the Lau
Lau bay underwater. There were about 15 of us there, and we each got about 2 bags each of assorted garbage topside. The list
ranges from pop cans, beer cans, diapers......yes, used ones!  Cigarette packages, straws, napkins bags, you name it, we
probably found it!
After we collected our bags above the water, we all geared up for a clean up under the water...one of my favorite places to be on
a Sunday morning!
We each took a mesh bag down with us and again, collected numerous items, from soda and beer cans, flashlights, snorkels,
Batteries and assorted keys.  But Judy and Dennis get the award for the most flip flop or flip flop parts collected!  Good job you
guys!
Mark found a pair of jeans and I stuck them in my bag, the whole time wondering "How in the world, does someone loose their
blue jeans in the water?" Did they take them off to go skinny dipping and the tide took them away?
Did they take them off to dive and just forgot to put them back on? Were they from a  fisherman, and they just fell off of him and
got washed out to sea?? He must need to catch more fish to hold his pants on!
Hmmmmmm, guess we will never figure out the mystery of the traveling pants in Lau Lau Bay.

In all, it was a fun time, very hot picking up trash topside, but our reward was to get into the cool blue water of Lau Lau and dive
as a group, and hopefully, HOPEFULLY make a difference for all the children of the future.

The future plan is to of course keep it up, and do it whenever we can, to help keep Saipan, our Paradise, just that...PARADISE!
